Terms of Service
These terms govern your use of the websites and services of Astra Stella LLC ("we", "us") — including this website (astrastella.design), our consulting and export-representation services, and the digital tools we publish, including the figure skating scoring calculator and other projects published under Nathalie Chou Lab. By using the sites, booking a service, or purchasing a license, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the services.
1. Services and Products
We offer two kinds of things:
- Professional services — consulting and export business development engagements, booked directly or through the fixed-price offerings listed on this site. The scope of each engagement is defined when it is booked; any engagement-specific terms agreed in writing take precedence over these general terms for that engagement.
- Software tools — web-based tools we publish, some free and some offering a paid "Pro" tier by subscription.
2. Software Licenses
A paid Pro subscription grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the tool's Pro features for as long as your subscription is active. A license may be activated on a limited number of devices (currently up to five); you can deactivate a device to free a slot. Keep your license key confidential — you are responsible for use made under it. You may not share, resell, or sublicense a license, and you may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, or redistribute any part of our software. All software, content, and design remain the proprietary property of Astra Stella LLC and its licensors; no rights are granted beyond the license expressly stated here.
This applies in particular to Calculator Pro, the paid tier of the figure skating scoring calculator published at nathalie.studio/calculator_fs. The plans, prices, and billing period offered at checkout (for example, a monthly or a yearly subscription) are part of your agreement; the plan you select governs what you are charged. The free tier of the calculator remains free and is provided under the same disclaimers set out in Sections 7–9.
3. Payments and Renewal
Payments are processed by Stripe (and, where offered, PayPal) on their secure checkout pages; we never see or store your card details. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period until cancelled. You can cancel at any time; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period, and Pro features remain available until then. Prices may change, but never mid-period — any change applies from your next renewal, with notice.
4. Refunds, Booking & Cancellation
If a Pro subscription isn't what you expected, contact us within 14 days of your first purchase and we will refund it. Renewal charges can be refunded if you contact us within 14 days of the charge and the Pro features have not been meaningfully used in the new period. To request a refund, write to nathalie@astrastella.net.
For the fixed-price professional services purchased through this site, payment confirms your booking and work is scheduled after payment is received. Unless an engagement's own written terms say otherwise:
- Consultations may be rescheduled free of charge up to 48 hours before the appointment. Cancellations made more than 48 hours in advance receive a full refund; later cancellations may be rescheduled once but are not refundable.
- Project services (market development, trade show and buyer meeting representation, interpretation and negotiation support) are refundable in full before work begins. Once work has started, refunds are prorated for the portion of the agreed scope not yet performed.
- If we must cancel and cannot offer an acceptable alternative date, you receive a full refund.
5. Professional Engagements
For consulting and export-representation engagements, we commit our professional skill, diligence, and good faith. We do not guarantee sales, contracts, buyer responses, distribution agreements, or any other commercial outcome — international trade depends on markets, buyers, and factors outside anyone's control — and fees are for the work performed, not for results.
- Your side. You agree to provide accurate company, product, and pricing information, respond to reasonable requests promptly, and ensure that the materials you give us are yours to share and do not infringe anyone else's rights. Delays caused by missing client input may extend the schedule without enlarging the scope.
- Confidentiality. Information you share with us for an engagement is used only for that engagement and disclosed only as needed to perform it (for example, presenting your products to a prospective buyer) or as required by law. A mutual NDA is available on request.
- Deliverables. Reports, buyer lists, and other materials prepared specifically for you become yours on full payment. Our underlying methods, templates, and know-how remain ours. Your trademarks and materials remain yours; you grant us a limited license to use them solely to perform the engagement.
- Events beyond anyone's control. If a trade show is cancelled, travel becomes impossible, or another event outside our reasonable control prevents performance, we are not in breach of these terms. We will propose an alternative date or scope, and if none works, refund the portion of the fee attributable to work not performed.
6. Acceptable Use
You agree not to misuse the sites or services — including attempting to bypass license checks or payment, probing or disrupting our infrastructure, scraping content for republication, or using the services for anything unlawful. We may suspend or terminate access, without refund, for material breach of these terms.
7. Unofficial Tools — No Affiliation
The figure skating scoring calculator is an unofficial study tool. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any national or international skating federation. Its results are estimates for study and entertainment — not official scores — and must not be relied on for any official, competitive, or commercial purpose. Our other demos and experiments are likewise provided as creative and educational demonstrations.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
The sites, tools, and content are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied — including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the services will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure. Nothing on the sites constitutes legal, financial, medical, or other professional advice.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Astra Stella LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, or for lost profits, data, or goodwill, arising from your use of — or inability to use — the sites, tools, or services. Our total aggregate liability for any claim shall not exceed the amounts you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim (or USD 50 if you paid nothing). Some jurisdictions do not allow certain limitations, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
10. Indemnification
If your breach of these terms, your misuse of the sites or services, or materials you supplied to us give rise to a claim by a third party against Astra Stella LLC, you agree to indemnify us — that is, to cover the losses, damages, and reasonable legal costs that claim causes us. This does not apply to the extent a claim results from our own breach of these terms.
11. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy describes what information we collect and how it is used, disclosed, and protected. It forms part of these terms.
12. Third-Party Services and Links
Checkout, form delivery, and hosting are provided by third parties (Stripe, PayPal, FormSubmit, Vercel, GitHub), each under its own terms and privacy practices. Our sites also link to external destinations we do not control and are not responsible for.
13. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time; the date at the top reflects the latest revision. Material changes to a paid subscription's terms will be communicated before they take effect at your next renewal. Continued use after a revision means you accept the updated terms.
14. Governing Law; Severability
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Washington, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally shall be brought in the state or federal courts located in Washington, and you consent to their jurisdiction. If any provision of these terms is held unenforceable, it will be enforced to the maximum extent permissible and the remaining provisions remain in full force; our not enforcing a provision on one occasion is not a waiver of it.
